Prayer - CityLife Church Melbourne Australia
Prayer and Fasting as Part of Our Rhythm of Life
On the first Thursday of every month, we will be fasting and praying together for our church and community. Each month will have a different focus area. Below are our current prayer points.
Prayer Points for
May 2025
Key Scripture: Isaiah 61:1-3 (NIV) - “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners… to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve… They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”

  • Salvations - Pray for open hearts and transformed lives as we continue to proclaim the Good News and step boldly into our Overflow vision this year. Lift up our outreach programs - like Alpha - and ask God to reveal His love and truth to all who are exploring faith. Pray that He would fill us with courage, boldness, divine strategy, and life-giving words, along with a deep, unshakable passion to see our unsaved friends and family come to know Jesus as Lord.
  • Mother's Day - On 11 May (Mother's Day), we celebrate the mothers and mother figures in our lives and within our church community. Thank God for the way they bring comfort, strength, and restoration to our lives. Pray for God’s blessing, peace, and encouragement to be poured out over them, especially on Mothers Day.
  • Field Partners & Ministries - Lift up our global Field Partners and the incredible work they do to bring hope, healing, and the light of Christ to communities around the world. As we approach World Impact Weekend in May, ask God to refresh and strengthen those serving on the frontlines. Also pray that we, as a church, would receive fresh vision and a deeper sense of calling as we partner with them in His mission.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and PRAY and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will HEAL their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

"Devote Yourselves to Prayer With an Alert Mind and a Thankful Heart.” Colossians 4:2 (NLT)

Prayer is a powerful tool God gives us to grow our relationship with him and support others. There are many ways we can engage in prayer:

Personal Prayer

All of us long to connect with someone who can identify with our circumstances and share in our day-to-day life. Prayer is just that - a personal experience and intimate connection with our loving Heavenly Father. We would encourage you to establish a regular time that you set aside to talk with God. "The fervent prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results." James 5:16 (NLT)
